Toast 9 HD-DVDs from HDV footage

I've got a Toshiba HD-DVD player (collector's item by year 2020) and I just bought Toast 9 so I can burn some HD-DVDs that will play on the Toshiba. Just found out I'll need the $20 plug in to do that. Thats okay but now I'm wondering if it will burn HDV footage from my Canon A1 (I only see AVCHD mentioned). Does anybody know about this?
 
Only have FCE4 at the present. Would love to get FCP Studio -- but my company would only spring for Express. The HD-DVDs would only be for my home use if I can burn them -- I doubt any clients would be interested.
