Hi everyone,
I've noticed on the Recorder settings in Toast you can pick from many burn speeds including ones like 1x, 2x, 4x... and then another group 1x DVD, 2x DVD, and 4x DVD, etc.
I was trying to pick a slower speed so that my burning is safer than the "Best" setting. What would be the difference between picking 4x and picking 4x DVD? I don't understand why they have separate choices.
Thanks,
ns

Hi, in toast they give you different choises to fit the media you have. 1x to 16x for dvds and 52x or so for cds. If you set it to best and are useing 4xdvds then thats what it will burn at. You can't burn faster than the media is made to burn at but you can burn slower. As far as single speed compared to 16x to burn at, I burn at the fastest my media will burn at. I personally have burned thousands of dvds and when I started I use to burn at single even after the speed increased with the media. I have since changed to burn at the fasted speed and have not incured any problems for a long time. You have to make sure that your rom for the drive is up to date for the newest media or you can have errors but that is because of a difference in the way the media is made. You can download the roms from the maker of your drive. If I was making a master to go to glass and wasn't going to tape with it I would use verbatim and maybe single speed to be safe but have burned lots of them at the fasted speed of the media.

Good luck
