To the Moon!

Well, no President has talked like this in decades. Could it be that a return to the Moon might actually happen?

Colony by 2020? That's apparently the plan. As someone who grew up as a space NUT, this is manna from heaven.

Of course, I'm no stranger to the realities of politics, and it could very well fizzle, but at least someone that high up wants to do it.

Re: To the Moon!

Well it will take a lot more than a big soundstage and slow motion to fool us this time. ;D

Re: To the Moon!

Elvis - LOL

I think it's good stuff. I would like to see (in our lifetime) something magical like this.

Re: To the Moon!

if i was the president of the USA, i would rather start solving some problems on earth.. or better - in my own country, before pointing to the sky and dreaming...

Re: To the Moon!

Although I agree with you I'm afraid the problems on earth will never go away. :-/

America is always trying to solve everyones problem and everyone hates us.

I would like to see an INternational effort though (more cash, more resources, more effort, more brains)

Re: To the Moon!

..i agree with both shai and john.
this country has alot of issues to deal with that area very serious and imminent, and we would be putting millions and millions of dollars into a space station on the moon instead of helping people in this world that really need help. i'd have to ask why? whether we would spend it on this country or not i dont care. people are people. i dont care if you spend it on some guy i dont know in South Dakota, or some girl i dont know in Tibet. people have enough money over here anyway, even most of the bums are better off. but if the world nations want to come together and see if there is anything for the world to gain from the moon other than being a beatifull nightlight, then it would be worth a much smaller co-oporative contribution to really take a good look at it. who knows, there could be some valuable fuel 30' under the surface that we could mine for a millenium or two., or some neato mineral that cures cancer, male pattern baldness, and the common cold.. doubtful, but who knows what we'd find anyaway..

Re: To the Moon!

If we waited until we solved all the problems here on Earth, we'd never go.

An inward-looking culture is a stagnant one. And "someday" never comes for people who always say "someday."
