and select "flicker removal"?

I have a project shot in 30p and it looks awesome on my computer. When I burn a dvd there is lots of flicker lines on the screeen because I guess it is not possible to make a 30p dvd? In the vegas forum David Jimmerson said 30p footage always gets interlaced when burned to DVD.

By the way, I did a search and found some posts on this subject but could not find a clear explanation.

thanks for any help!

it would be useful to see what you mean by 'flicker lines'.
when displaying a 30p on tv you should see simply an interlaced signal where each couple of fields come from the same (progressive shot) frame. so it's interlaced as a signal but progressive in nature.

flickering may have other reasons: the most popular is thin horizontal lines. also, what you call 'flicker lines' may be what commonly is named 'strobo effect'. don't forget that progressive is less smooth than interlaced in pannings and with moving objects.

They are horizontal white wavy lines that basically pulsate.

I understand that this is because of high resolution on an average TV but what is the method for fixing this?

mmm...
does this happen as well if you output your film TV via firewire or just after you export to dvd?
-if it doesnt, it may be a mpeg2 compression problem.
-if it does, i would check the original footage you shot on tv. if it looks ok there's a prob with editing software output settings.

If I watch my DVX on any TV I don't have this problem. Only when burned to DVD.

ok obviously your footage gets 'ruined' at some point of your process:
you have to check your output and mpeg2 compression settings are ok.

I think the default MPEG encoding (in PP, encore and probably ant other software) is interlace (excpecting most videos to be interlaced...)

What detail level did you shoot in with your DVX? Thick or thin? That may be a potential source of your problem.
