Greetings,
This past spring I filmed two documentaries and recently released 4 trailers for those documentaries (2 for each doc). In an uploading frenzy, I uploaded those 4 trailers to current.com I just got an e-mail from a creative executive at Current TV. LLC who stated they are interested in acquiring portions of one of my films for their network.
These films aren't done yet (I'm editing them now) and I was planning on entering both of them into film festivals when they are done. I would love to participate and they pay well. But here are my questions...
Would releasing up to 7 minutes (the bites have to be 7 minutes or less) of the film hurt the official release?
Will this interfere with submitting the film as "new" to film festivals?
Would this ruin the newness of the material if some of the story is released beforehand?
Let me know what you think. I'd really like to see whats on the table with Current TV but I've been careful about how much of the doc footage I release prior to them going some rounds on the festival circuit.
