In other news, Apple just revealed the new 8core Macpro. Still no Blu-ray drive option. And no Blu-ray video burning support from dvd studio pro, or even Toast.
Hmmm.... does a bad Film get better when you burn it on BluRay?
Honest, I could not care less. More Resolution is nice but I rather watch a good movie on a Cell Phone than a bad one on BlueRay/HD-DVD.
I dont want all that copy protection-schmotection that almost turns out to be a play protection just because your player got older firmware or is not connected to the internet to send your TV habits to some strange company - in fact I dont want any of my houshold appliances to phone home or do some other orwellish stuff.
I want better movies. I want the freedom to do whatever I want with products I bought cause I own them.
If you watch a real good movie you get sucked in by the story and pretty soon you forget the resolution even if it runs on a 700x400 screen in the backseat of the car.
I will not buy BR/HD-DVD or anything elese when they don`t stop to nany me, spy on me, profile me, restricting me and force me to connect everything including the kitchen sink to the internet to make it work just to get an other bad movie build arround the newest FX Plug-ins instead of a good story.
I still have a VCD Player!!! with Superfragilistic-Ultracrappypixelation. At the time, it cost $349, about the same as a Blu-ray player at Walmart! They have stacks of $38 upconverting DVD players flying off the shelf and $199 HD-DVD players but only one Blu-ray player behind locked glass, sitting there for the past six months!
i think its going to be the middle mans market -distributers-
if they or (?) the $ $behind the next push for marketing, an example whould be proposed indy theater with online distrubutons directly to the theater ,talks of large companys who whould cut out themiddle man whould decide fate of there format. in other words if microsoft started ther own indy theater chain or mainstream ,the new distribution of the fims whould be -jacked!!- ok
that means if my theater wants to be the exclusive hd-dvd format for veiwng that whould be the format to have ,but if the same companys that distrubute films world wide to there theaters -consumer outlets (best buy blockbuster) what not have a death grip on there distrubution!blue ray only?
if there was a freindly competive buissnes route large coperations whould still veiw hd-players as a profitble buisness if they want there hand in distrubuiton rights its all about who owns there seat in the market sorta morelike the greatest invester gets the hype......
if hd wanted to hold back a few months of there distribution all those greedy blue ray owners who dont offer enough in numbers to convince me that there 3 hour movie disk is better than a 2 hour disk is crazy to ask there consumers to pay 50% more ? why? that stupid buisness a great way to go broke over trendy items
blue ray is a little luxery and soem what hd is too but why pay more for not much more? less is more !!! there is just too much hype for blue ray if you ask me
numbers numbers numbers!!!!!! 12 million vs 5.4 million obviusly fewer peopel use blue ray than anything? why wory over it? simply i think a smart person whould invest in hd-dvd its just more accesble than a blue ray player more
for less blue ray 400 ,hd-150
numbers numbers duh more hd players more veiwers
asmart buisness person cuold just weigh out the facts an afordable player whould determain the fact that its almost 25 to 1 who cuold afford a device thats over 200 dollers next to there inexpensive hd tvs at 500 dollers
american economy duh were not al that rich !! hd dvd is the perfect price for the laarger market for profit blue ray is just to greedy same qualty less price!!!
duh ....im sre blue light ray is nice but so is money and having an audiance buisness is buisnes lessis more for me.....did i write enough? ok if movie tickets where 25 dollers a piece whould go? only the rich what a lonly world that whould be...?
mike duckworth
down for the peopel!!
ok ok im just agh!! over the hype the new hd systems bring to peopel!!
ok im 34 years old ive been up to my neck in entertainment!! my uncle opend one of the first video stores in san francisco -one stop video- in the early eightys vhs was just availble and tron was the first computer movie ever made whoa!!! i was like 7 and was helping peopel decide what new movie to watch every weekend!!
ive seen so many trendy technologie coem and go its just a waste soem times!!
like wide screen tvs flop!! not that many were sold soem had em most do not!
yet today its the standerd if you cuold afford hd!!
today the current market is so nieve more is greater and less cost extra!! too bad
eventualy blue ray will have to cost less or get what happens to cock blockers
piracy yep if blue ray went to the extreme and left all markets sealed up no alternative options the worst happens piracy yeah who wants to pay full price
and let the rich get more rich ?
i still know very few peopel in my neighbor hood who own blue or hd? and whould love a great dvd to watch , i do miss my qualty sd veiwing since i switched for a plasma pany---
if there was an netflix for hd owners the whole system whould get shut down no block buster or comercial retailers with the hype whould matter, its all distrubution
in the eightys when the vhs and beta met head to head it was vhs the smaller less expensive less time per tape and less to distrubute and less for rentals more for proucers and companys to profit from
hey dont get me wrong ok guys im all for qualty products!! and anything goes in the digital age !!!! ok im doen ranting !!!! but where will you go to see your favorite movie or production 5-10 years from now? will you throw your hd away fro soemthing better all ready? will you argue over the next generation of non-disk players ?my rainbo brite player is better than your alphebet player!!?
oh yeah my video game system is way more expensive than your i-device what eva!!!! agh!!!! agh!!!!
soem body just start soem coloring books so everbody can share yeah!!
Here's an "I told you so!" Not to anyone in particular but if you want to check my prior posts about this subject I said at the time that HDDVD had six months to a year to sell as many HDDVD players as they could to hopefully get them to stick.
I also was fairly direct [and right on the money] about what was going to happen, how it was going to happen and when it was going to happen.
I didn't like the debate when it was happening almost two years ago and I'm not going to waist much time on it now. This is long overdue and hopefully HD will start to be adopted at a much faster pace.
The exclusive thing is only in America. You can buy Disney movies on HD-DVD from other countries. The great thing about HD-DVD is that it's region free. Does anyone know how well HD-DVD is doing in other countries where these exclusives don't apply?
look at the brightside, the porn industry has gone hd-DVD! I'm really hoping Paramount opens its doors and more titles begin to get released. I voted blu ray since day one.
