To Catch a Predator Bloopers

I have to agree with John H. on this one!!! This is too serious to make fun of.

I don't watch TV so I am totally in the dark...It looks like....The reason I don't watch TV! I trust Hudson all the way so I'm gonna say....Nothin. I don't get any of it! But...Your friends have duplicated TELEVISION quite well IMHO... CRAP!!!

Allz I can say is that your friends and yourself obviously don't have kids (especially daughters) if you think this is something to take lightly or parody-worthy.

To Catch A Predator is something that I have been saying should be made into a weekly series (ala America's Most Wanted). I know I'd patronize it week in and week out just for the priceless service to our society it would act as.

A couple of my friends made these vids, they are a takeoff of Dateline's To Catch a Predator series.

Poor taste and bad form IMO.:thumbdown :thumbdown

No matter how I look at it, this is crap, The fact that it's a parody only makes me feel worse about real TV. Some fool somewhere has turned this inta a dollar generating ratings geared fiasco which does nothing to addres the problem! We won't solve issues like these by parading them around to the masses in prime time. IMO we need to produce telivision that gets to the root of why these fools pray on children in the first place. You could argue that TV like this will put the fear of Jesus into the perps, but there are going to be many a brave soul behind them who will not be put off by tis kind of spotlighting and take their chances. From my chair here it is gibberish all round!

so your saying that if these worthless soul-less pieces of **** don't know which city or town (To Catch A Predator hit both big cities as well as places like rural Ohio) will be home to the nest sting operation...that it wouldn't have any impact at all?!

I say it would in fact have an impact...but even if it were a small one, even if a handful of children get to keep their innocence, then it is still more than worth while.

And if NBC gets "dollar generating ratings" from it...more power to 'em.
What, The Big Brother Amazing Race For The American Idol Who Can Dance should get the ratings instead?

There is nothing even remotely funny about child abuse. There is absolutely no punishment too horrific for those who prey on children. I don't find this funny in the least.

I think its wrong to bust people on television like that. That show is a good example of how TV has crossed the line. The show is obviously doing no good at stopping predators, if it did, there wouldd be no show anymore. What ever happend tot he good old days? Macgyver anyone?

Well....What I'm saying is that bait cars have seen a minor drop in auto theft so your chances of having your car where you left it in the morning are slightly improved. The reason you're car is missing when you go to get in it are rooted in a crime culture that won't be put off by bait cars. I don't see these people as worthless pieces of sh*t, but rather people who have very deep emotional problems that when acted upon produce nothing more than the most vile social behaviour in existence! You are correct that if it stops 2% of these crimes it could be deemed worthwhile, my problem though is whith the ideology of producing this material in the first place. I just don't trust that it is born of people who are doing this as a public service but more to keep the ratings up and the bills paid! This to me is every bit as sickening as the act itself. Though I have to admit this is all hypothesis on my part as I have no idea as to the intent of the producers of this real material.

all appropriateness issues aside ...

these just aren't funny because they aren't funny

Agreed. I'm a guy who thinks nothing is off limits when it comes to parody, but this just isn't funny.

I liked the second one better - I loved the line where they asked the guy if he caught the game last night and he said, "No, I was online".

I do have kids and watch the show - I do think there is a fine line when satirizing a touchy subject where it can be viewed as making the subject not as heinous.

I think that you have a nice balance where you have concentrated on satirizing the reporter and the news concept - not on the predators. So I don't see it as making lite of child abuse.
