To buy on BHP or Ebay???

Hi Guys!

Im in the process of buying a Blackmagic Pocket, but im undecided where to get it. Im working right now in the US for a 7 month contract, but im from Montreal, Canada. So my main concern is that, if i wait till i return to buy it, i will probly have to pay border and custom taxes. This is not counting the shipping fee to Canada ( expensive all the &@#$%^& time ). I know people told me it shouldnt be an issue because its not a in-out run between US and Canada. The fact im work on shoots there for a long time gives me a bigger amount of goods to brings back. But some told me that this wont be a issue at all, that since i will probly use here in the USA. That its gona be consider as a regular belonging like my macboo pro or my olympus camera because its unboxed.

If i choose indeed to buy it here in the U.S., i want to know if buying the bmpcc, the lumix 12-35 f2.8 lens and memory cards on BHP is a better deal and safer option than buying on ebay. BHP offers the 6 months without pay option aswell and i guess is has more protection. But you get sometimes on ebay those used kits with alot of accessories...

A other factor is pricing.... On ebay, they sell brand new Lumix 12-35mm G X Vario's for 850$ and BHP sells it for 1,119,99$. Why the price is so different, there must a be something when theres 300$ between them....

I would like your opinion on this project of mine...

Thank You!

JC

Can't speak to the border and customs issues, but as far as B&H Photo (that is what you're talking about with BHP?) they sell new in box without any hassles. Always a safe bet, but may not be the absolute cheapest because they don't do things like break up kits and sell off each piece on it's own. That may account for some lower prices on eBay for kit lenses. Those same kit lenses can also be found locally on Craigslist FYI.
