Titles workflow anyone??

I am tring to make lower third overlays and titles on top of my video I am editing in avid. This is what I do: create the graphic in photoshop with a transparacy. Import that into AE 6 and do my animations. I ouput and try to lay on top of the video footage but I does not overlay...it blacks out the video.

I also tried another method which involved export the video I wanted to put the title on and importing it to after effects and working it out there. This of course did it but I lost a noticable amount of color information in the process. And I had output from AE in the highest res.

Can anyone give me a workflow that will do just that...work?

Thanks!!

Okay...I did that (ani codec with mil+) and its doing just what it was before. Am I importing into avid incorrectly??
