Titles are blurry on DVD

Hi,

My film looks good in FCP, it is shot on HVX with an M2. But once i burn it to a DVD with compressor, the titles are really blurry and not readable on a 2 times bigger TV screen. I am aware that the TV screen is much lower res than the cinema display, but how come the titles on my hollywood films dont suffer so bad?

What type of TV do you have? Normal televisions have resolutions of 720x480 so in fact it should look better than on a cinema display if it is a standard television. However if you have a big hi def television well then that explains it. I mean it also depends on what resolution you were shooting using the hvx too. at 720 i would assume that your titles should look fine even on a hi def television. Perhaps your settings in FCP weren't correct.

PS. what are you burning to HD DVD or standard DVD. Standard MPEG-2 encoding compresses your image by about 5-fold
