Ok, so, I always make videos that I just upload to youtube and facebook and stuff so I've never really bothered with the title safe stuff before.. but last night I decided to burn a DVD for my parents of some of my music videos, in hopes that they would send me money if i gave them parental bragging rights, and realized my titles were going off the screen.
So. I have a few questions here. They may appear to be noobish - and you're right, they are. heh.
Question #1) I find it annoying to have to make two versions of my videos. One for the internet withOUT title safety, and one for dispaly on TV with it. is there a way around this, without making all my videos title safe to begin with? because, using the example of a music video with the artist title/name in the bottom left corner, that would look really silly on the internet if i pushed it over to the right like i'd have to for a TV. do most people make their videos title safe only?
Question #2) what about the footage around the edges that is lost? usually this isnt a big deal, but i noticed in some cases it is. like if someone's face is at the far right of the screen, 1/3 of it gets cut off when displayed on tv. how do you avoid THAT? do you scale your image down to fit perfectly in the title safe area? i don't really get it. i dont want to lose that stuff.
Question #3) this one is more specific to final cut express. probably final cut pro too, but i 'm not sure. when i'm working in my timeline and trying to move my title over so that it's in the title safe area, i notice that on the canvas, i cannot select the option to see the title safe green lines, it's actually greyed out. it's in the list of options, but greyed out. but in the VIEWER it's there, except obviously i can't move my clip around and see the viewer at the same time because i'd be on the motion tab in the viewer, so i have to just GUESS where title safe would be and then go back to the viewer video and check where it ended up. does anyone know why title safe could be greyed out?
Ok i'm done. Thanks for joining me today. I predict this is the most enthralling DVXuser.com thread of ALL TIME.
