Re: Title Opening

Re: Title Opening

well, crack the manual, open a beer and hang out for a while.
set a keyframe on it's position and scale and play around with flying stuff around. When yer comfy with that, design some cool stuff and animate it one layer at a time... kepping in miond what you want the other layers to be doing.
Don't get too complicated at first. Expressions and some plugins can be overwhelming at first so keep it basic for now.
Just play.
You can either create basic text in AE or import your text from photoshop or illustrator.
After you get it flyin arounf like ya want and build some confidence, start playing with bevels, animated drop shadows and things of the like.
go from there

carefull....
it's addicting

Re: Title Opening

..ha ha .. my studio title animation has a lense flare in it. i know .. i know. but i use it very quickly from 0 intensity to enough to blow the whole screen to white, and fade back to 0 in under 1 sec. so its not sitting there looking amaturish the whole time.. its pretty much a flash transition but it allowed me to make a pinpoint from where the flash comes in from, and where it leaves on a completely black background wheras other effects would require some luminance in the layer to add work off of.

i also use it in a demo dvd for one motion menu screen where it looks like the sun glaring.. again its short lived. ::)

Re: Title Opening

Oh man, I remember the first time I used Photoshop... I was playing around with the filters and then BAM! "Whoa! That lens flare thing looks cool!"

The came "Whoa! 3D Difference Clouds!"

It took about 5 logos looking the same to realize that the Render menu is the devil. :P

Re: Title Opening

ha it's funny as your design skills mature you shy away from the very things you thought were the coolest things since sliced bread when you first get started...
