Risking a flame war, I'm going to address the tripod sticky problem. The first post in this thread was late 2006. Posts up until 2010 sometimes refer to tripods that are no longer available. This makes the thread up to that point less than helpful. And the activity is spotty now, at best. I'd like to have a variation on the sticky, anyway. How about recommended tripods kits or combinations of legs and heads in the (1) up to $500 range, (2) $501 to $1,000 range, (3) $1,001 to $1,500 range, (4) $1,501 to $2,000 range, and (5) over $2,001 range. This will enable beginners and those of us on limited budgets to learn what experienced folks on this board have to say. (I'm sorry, but I can't spend $5,000 on a tripod...)
