Have any of you tried The Foundry's Tinderbox suite 1, 2 and 3? (Or any one of these plug-ins?)

I'm debating the value of this package - expensive as it is - and wondering what experiences you might have had with it?

Does it work in FCP, as well? Also, do you have any other suggestions on other excellent AE/FCP plug-ins out there.

Any thoughts on some superior slow motion plug-ins?

Of course, there's Shine, Retimer, Aurora Sky ... but wanted to get your opinion on the better ones out there.

Kai, Caveman what do you think?

Thanks!!

Re: Tinderbox, Anyone?

Hey Sandeep ;D

If you're ready to lay down a cool $1500 for plugins, I'd consider the Sapphire bundle by Gen Arts. They are alot more bang for the buck ... really good pro FX plugins and they are compatible with FC, AE, Motion, Combustion, Media 100 etc... I don't believe the tinderbox suite is cross program compatible.

As far as time manipulation plugins go I've always used re-timer, by Realviz, with good results. I've seen some good stuff come from Twixtor by Re:vision effects but I couldn't give you a first hand comparison. Realviz is a respectable company with some very highend matchmoving software.

Hope my opinions are worth something ;) CAVEMAN ;D

Re: Tinderbox, Anyone?

Caveman and Kai,

Your opinions are worth their weight in gold ... or shall we say Saphires.

I just looked at the genarts site and those plug-ins are beautiful. What's more, as you already noted, Caveman, they work in AE and FCP!

Just curious, would you suggest getting Trapcode along with the Saphire suite or would there be too much overlap? All of a sudden, Tinderbox doesn't look so hot anymore.

Any other AE and FCP plug-ins out there in the same league as Saphire?

Thanks again, Caveman and Kai. You both ROCK!!

Re: Tinderbox, Anyone?

Sandeep -
There are definitely some features to trapcodes plugins that are completely unique. It all depends on your applications as well. Trapcodes are very commercial design oriented, IMHO, but their particular and lux plugins are one of a kind, particular in particular. No pun intended. 3D stroke is really cool for commercial applications as well. You definitely can't go wrong with Trapcode and I think Sapphire plugs are a whole different genre.

Caveman,

Thanks very much for your thorough, insightful and prompt replies.

I will be adding Trapcode and Saphire to my plug-in wardrobe.

Your words of wisdom are ALWAYS appreciated!!

With great admiration,

A humble student

What a classic quote! Your "wardrobe"... i like it :)

Once again, I second Caveman's insight. Trapcode's offerings are really pretty handy to have, and not too pricy to boot.

Re: Tinderbox, Anyone?

A compliment from Kai ... now that's something I can take to the bank! ;D

Re: Tinderbox, Anyone?

i will also give these sapphire plugins a look but for the price you cant beat trapcode. the 3s package of 3d Stroke, Starglow, and Shine make me have to drop it like its hot.

soundkeys is fan freaking tastic if you do music video related work. and particular makes 3d particles easy. for the price of about 80 bucks a plugin and only like 200 for particular you absolutly cant beat them.

Re: Tinderbox, Anyone?

Trapcode plugs are the best bang for the buck out there, bar none, in my opinion. For the price there isn't anything as useful that produces those kind of results. I can't vouch for sapphire plugs (would like to try but too busy) but Tinderbox's 3rd set has a few goodies. Most of their effects are relatively useless in terms of being "out there" kinds of over the top effects, but their blurs are really top notch. They have a great camera blur that blows highlights like a real camera would. Wish they would release the blurs as their own (cheaper) package. Overall not worth the money but those damned blurs rock!
