Apparently Steven Spileberg is directing the first of the planned three films according to Andy Serkis they are going to start shooting in September which seems very soon...

Yeah, I never was a faithful reader of the comic but I used to get a magazine called "Explorer" or something like that and they had some of the Tintin comics in there don't remember the stories to much but the art was wonderful.

Apparently the creator Hergé, said that if there was ever to be a Tintin movie Spielberg would be his only choice as director...

While the whole Spielburg/Jackson tandem is certainly exciting, I can only despise this film for taking Jackson from directing The Hobbit.

I can only say - they better be REALLY good.

More than once Spielberg said he likes making movies that his kids would enjoy.
That being said I never really cared for Tin Tin books.

Hi,

There were already tintin's movies in the past like "tintin et les oranges bleues" (tintin and blues oranges) or "tintin et la toison d'or". These french movies were not based on existing stories but the caracters were very close from the comic and finally not so bad, imho.

I heard they chose to adapt "tintin et le crabe aux pinces d'or" which is a very good story but i would have prefer "Tintin et les 7 boules de cristal" which is one of my prefered story with tintin.

btw, i didn't know tintin was popular in US ?!

I think every European kid since 1960 has read Tintin books! I love'em to death
I still grab one once in a while and still enjoy them like the first day

I see TinTin everywhere but the states. I even saw it in China, Vietnam, and Thailand recently. I couldn't believe it!

There's an amazing rare Tin Tin issue where he visits the Red Light district in the Neatherlands ;-)

Tin Tin had his own cartoon on HBO for a number of years. He is pretty popular in the US. Not Mickey Mouse popular but there are many people who know of the character.

Despite a recent rumor, Mr. Spielberg is still directing the first film! And apparently the story they are adapting is "The Secret of the Unicorn"

I hope Speilberg does a good job with this. If he does it right, it could turn out to not only be popular with kids but with adults as well. Personally, I try and read all the Tin Tin comics I can find, but they're hard to come by in the States.
