Well one of the things that surprised me was that, at least here in the US, the film industry seems about 5 years behind theatre and theatre is about 5 years behind the music industry in terms of technology. I came into film and DAW's were the bleeding edge but we had been using them in theatre for quite some time and we were late adopters after the music folks. The first film to mix to digital dubbers at Lucas Digital was Studio 54 in 1998.

By the way what part of the world are you buried in?

It was a joke. Sort of like the old "I'll see you around." and the response " not if I see you first." Maybe it doesn't translate...
