Timecode gen/read filter question FCP Studio

I'm importing footage with the sole purpose of making .mov exports to be transcribed. So the timecode needs to match the source footage's timecode (as opposed to the timecode of the timeline itself.) When I apply the timecode reader filter, it shows the source timecode in the viewer but the timeline timecode in the canvas. Does anyone know how to make it only display the source footage timecode so that when i export it will show the source timecode and not the timecode of the timeline? Thanks!

The Time Code Reader will display the SOURCE timecode, even if the clip is on the timeline. If you exported something on the timeline...saw as a self contained QT movie, then reimported that, THEN added the filter, it will read the TIMELINE QT.

But if you just drag a captured clip, it will read the source TC.
