Timecode Capture problem. Help!

The Maverick

I'm using my FCP for the first time. I'm trying to capture footage from a Canon Optura 20 MiniDV camcorder. Unfortunately, this camera doesn't display a timecode. FCP sees the camera, however each time I try to capture, FCP keeps looking for a timecode and won't capture. Is there anyway to turn off the time on FCP so I capture the footage, or is there any other way I can capture the footage???
Please help...thanks in advance.

Odd -- not sure why that camera won't record timecode...

However -- change your capture settings DEVICE CONTROL to NON-CONTROLABLE DEVICE. (You can do this in the Log and Capture window too)

That will get you around that issue.

Wow, thanks, that worked. But now I don't hear the audio from the captured footage, any idea why is not playing...or why I can't hear it. I've checked the speakers, they're fine and audio for other things is playing just fine, ie, music etc...

Thanks Captain...

Ugh... do you see the audio meters moving up and down? When you put it in the timeline did it come with audio tracks? When you load it in the VIEWER, is there a tab for Audio?

All of those questions should be YES or all of those should be NO. If NO - well... you might have captured the video without capturing the audio. Inside the Log and Capture window there is a setting for capturing video AND audio...

OR - you say audio for other things plays fine... hows your setup? Do this... go to the VIEW menu and down at the bottom you'll see audio sending options... if you don't have an external audio set up then change it to INTERNAL SPEAKERS... if you have an external audio/video setup then it should be FOLLOW VIDEO and EXTERNAL VIDEO should be set to ALL FRAMES.
