Hi everyone, I'm trying to capture some footage from an interview. We shot with a two camera set up (one tight, one wide) and jammed timecode from Camera A to Camera B. The cameras were Varicams.
I logged and digitized the footage from Camera A. I then went and made a new capture project for the B camera. I copied the logging info from Camera A and changed the names/reel numbers to reflect the B camera. I also added some more pre-roll for the b camera on the first clip of each tape since the A camera usually was started a few seconds before the B camera.
However, I am running into a frustrating issue. There are no timecode breaks in the footage from the A camera, but since the B camera was always started slightly after the A, there are timecode breaks on many of the tapes. I captured the footage fine, but when we sat down to cut between camera A and Camera B there are sync issues. The timecode on the tapes match perfectly, but because of the timecode breaks the B camera timecode drifts in fcp.
Is there a way to capture this correctly without the timecode drift? or is the best solution to sit down and relog all of the B camera around the timecode breaks (very time consuming)?
We shot 17 tapes so I'm trying to avoid relogging and digitizing the footage. I'm also having a hard time figuring out which tapes have issues and which dont. I had fcp set up to warn about timecode breaks, but for some reason never got a warning on capture.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
