Time remapping graph ?

Do you guys understand anything about the way the time remapping graph works ?

This is by far the most unintuitive tool I know on this planet.

Also : is there a simple way to change the speed of a clip already enclosed in a sequence (ie : between two clips) WITHOUT changing its duration in the time line ?

I totally agree. Are you looking for some tutorials? or are you just wondering, "is it the feature?" or "am I lame?" I eventually understood it, after reading guidance from a book and going through a tutorial and then many, many, many practice attempts. Ocassionally, it is totally logical to me, and sometimes I have no idea how I make it work.

Fit to fill? shift+ f11

Re: Time remapping graph ?

The graph is a lookup table (for those used to Curves in Photoshop)
Time goes in horizontally and goes out vertically
When you open the graph with no time remap applied it's a 45 degree line. 5 seconds in equals 5 seconds out.
Now set it to 200%. You'll see it's 1/2 the size on one axis. and the angle is now 60 degrees.
By speeding up the clip 200% (2x) the clip will end sooner.
If you still need to fill a given time then you will need to extend the clip itelf.
(or if you're slowing it down you will need to trim it.)
You may want to put it on a different video layer to experiment with.
Your other option is to go variable speed. Control click in/out points on graph and set to smooth. Now you can adjust it so it ramps in and ramps out to keep the same time.

So simple... once you know how.

Thanks a lot buddies. I'll try some temporal experiment today to check out if I'm totally stupid (as I started to fear) or just normally stupid (as I thought before I met The Graph).

Will this site leave me unanswered one day ? I doubt so, that's why I love it. 8)
