Shot this short with an HVX200 and Brevis combo. Would love some feedback/constructive criticism.

some quick details - Shot in 6 days with only two weeks pre-production (not my choice) which made my job hell. Budget of around $1000.

Liked it a lot actually. What lighting equipment did you have to use? Also random question. On use of the songs did you just use them? or did you actually get rights to use them?

I only had a 3 light kit (1000w each) and for the outside stuff, had to rent two 4000w construction lights (the ones construction workers use when they're workin on roads). Every shot I had used some sort of light, either because the natural light wasn't enough with the adapter, or we had a day scene that I had to shoot at night.

We just used the songs, not making any money on this. If it came to where we needed to get the rights, im sure those songs will change :)

Glad you liked it! It was a hell shoot for me as a DP, especially arriving to a location for the first time and having to light it.

That was some good looking footage AND a hell of a short film. Great acting, great directing, (little iffy on some sound) great music. Loved it. How long did it take to make?

One more Q... was the brevis on the whole time? How did you get the deep DOF with the adapter in place? Thanks,

the film took about two weeks for pre-production, one week to shoot, and three months for post work.

The brevis was used for everything, and i got the deep DOF with a 19mm lens and by switching between an a CF1 and CF3 screen for the brevis.

hey you got some pretty great footy there. I really liked a lot of it.

quick critique— the dinner scene in the beginning has two major problems with it: complete overuse of the (side) dolly. I know it's tempting, but try to use that dolly for more deliberate purposes—ie: tracking someone who's walking or for a transition. also the second problem with it is that you didn't smoothcam the dolly. I know that when you rent a dolly, they can sometimes give you shotty track, or the floor is uneven... you can fix that with a little bit of smoothcam.

couldn't watch the whole thing, bc I don't have time. but I hope that helps. Otherwise— really impressive and very ambitious. Keep it up.
