Time Lapse with DV

I am planning on shooting a time lapse scene on a 100a (at 24p) this summer. It will require the character exiting the scene, while the camera is left shooting to capture the day turning to night. The character will reappear once it is night. I do not know how this will be possible, seeings how the longest DV tape I can find is 83 mins, but I am hopeful that someone may have some ideas. I probably need a good three hour tape if such a thing is obtainable.

I thought the 100A had a "record interval" mode. The 100B has it but the "B" won't automatically engage it. I believe the "A" will, however.

The 100A does have an interval recording mode, but it is definitely not suitable for time lapse. The 100B has improved it to the point where it is a viable option.

I know Premiere 6 used to have a great time lapse feature, but that was taken out when it went to PPro. There's programs out there, and probably other NLE's that do it as well. But you've got to hook up a laptop, which is the downside to that approach.

If you're going to shoot long hours of timelapse, i recommend you capturing it straight to your laptop or a computer, and that both your laptop and the camera is plugged into an electrical outlet (your batteries wont last too long).
A software called ScenAlyzer Live is great for this kind of purpose

or Boinx IStop Motion if you're using Mac
