Timcode Breaks...making batch capturing a headache

Until last week i have been using my DVX to import footage to my FCP system with NO problems. Now that I got my MiniDV deck, I am having a hard time trying to batch capture footage where I already logged the timecodes. It keeps telling me that their is a timecode error and that the tape is at the end which its not. So I go in and change the timecode in point and attempt to batch capture again. Sometimes it goes through and other times gets hung up again on yet another timecode! Alot of times its ONE shot and the timecode just jumps for no reason! I took the tape out of the deck and put it in the camera to see if it would jump on there and sure enough it did! This is sooooo weird because I never had any issues with tapes or importing footage.

Any thoughts or ideas of what might be going on?

I just tried to do a CAPTURE NOW and it won't even do that because the timecodes keep jumping all over the place! I think I may have to send this deck back, this is ridiculous. It never did this when I had my DVX hooked up to the computer.

A few thoughts:
In capture now you can set it to be a non-controlled device. This should ignore timecode but you'll have to manually set it up.
Some secondary cams used for capture don't suppply tiem code (even some of the panasonic brands)
But you have a deck so it should unless it's a poor brand (JVC?)
Another thing to note if you change timecodes in the capture window when dealing with 24pa shots if the timecode puts it on a 'split frame' then it will have problems.
Check your camera and make sure it's set to regen timecode. Use the check button on top of camera before shooting next setup.

Yup I have my camera set up to REGEN and DF. My tape consist of 24PA footage and so I have my sequence set up to remove the advanced pulldown. I have the Firewire set to NDF. The deck I am using is a Sony GVD1000 MiniDV deck. The thing that is ticking me off is just playing back the tape on the deck and sitting here watching the timecodes jump all over the place right in the middle of a shot. There are other times when the timecode completely jumps to another number when the shot changes too! Could the tape be defective? I did play the tape back in the camera and I noticed the same problems however I put in another tape in the camera and everthing is fine. I didn't put that particular tape in the deck yet. I am going to shoot a little b-roll on another tape then put it in the deck to see if those timecodes jump around and if it does then this new deck is going back to B&H.

Re: Timcode Breaks...making batch capturing a head

Just performed a test shoot around the house on a different tape in 24PA mode and imported that footage into the same sequence with the pulldown removed in a batch capture. This time it worked. It captured all of the timecodes I put in without the time jumping to another number right in the middle of a shot. So could this mean that tape 1 is defective?

Sounds likely given that everything else seems to be working
