'til Death

I liked this short, I gave it a 5 rating which is good because most of them I gave a 2 or 3 and only one so far got a 7 from me.
 
Man, that was a twist that I didn't see. Those zombies were of the most cognisant I've ever seen. They reminded me a lot of vampires, they still have thoughts, and they hunger in different way.

The second head hit (on the mattress) looked awesome!

I really liked the opening shot. Very Sam Mendes-ish.

I liked the idea of the gated community, though I would have loved to have seen more zombies trying to get it.

I had a hard time telling if the zombie setting the trap was supposed to be funny or not. But I got a good chuckle. Same goes for the last shot.

I wasn't terribly thrilled with the acting, or the VFX; but they weren't horrible.

Aww, it was so cute that he offered her some severed arm! I couldn't tell if her eyes were CG or real, (my guess is CG) but they looked great.

Overall: It had some good stuff in it, but I couldn't figure out if it was supposed to be funny or serious. That, more than anything, hurt it.

I totally meant it to be funny, but in a warped/black humor way....like Dawn of the Dead (78) or pre-DEAD/ALIVE Peter Jackson. It's a comedy/love/horror story. The humor is very dark though so I understand your conflict, but that was really my intention.

My grandma would take it serious, but horror fans would laugh there asses off.
 
One thing I didnt like was the zombie biting through the military jacket so quickly. Jackets are really touch and cant be eaten through with one bite.. I didnt like it because of that.. maybe Im picky but I would have had him wearing a t shirt or something if there was going to be an arm bite. anyway, it was an alright film

dude i was gonna wait til you said something ... cuz i thought u were trying to make a serious movie, cuz ... I thought it was freakin hilarous... Yow! I got some beer! and that part where he made that sign "alive inside" to set up a trap... and he pop out of nowhere with that smile.. and pop that shirtless dude. it got me dying laughing. I love every bit of it, especially he takes a hammer into his shoulder, the way he reacted to it was funny. Its like "hell no.. I know you didn't..." then he pops a cap into her. If this movie was meant to be serious... the only thing would really bother me was if he was "aware" that he was a zombie... he would have thought twice about popping his own wife. overall its good, i gave you a pretty good rating.

Glad you 'got it'. It was totally intended to be funny. I knew him shooting his wife would bother people but hell......I'm a sick bastard, what can i say?
 
Hector - There's a whole minute sequence I cut out because of time. I had them putting on 3 pairs of pants and 4 shirts to prevent a weak jawed zombie from breaking skin. I had 'em complaining about the heat and thinking about taking off some layers. It hit the editng room floor though so that's why the jacket thing. The directors cut is actually like 8 minutes. I actually had that sequence a bit longer and more suspenseful

I actually just tried biting through the jacket. It's really old and the cloth had started to breakdown a little weakening it (it was a jacket he looted from someones house). It's definately possible Also, I figured a zombies teeth would be chipped and jagged and sharper from biting on bones and stuff.

I lost a lot of little things trimming it to 5 minutes, but I tried to make sure the story was still there.

Technically flawed? Yes, but your film shows me that you have the rare gift of creating and manipulating dramatic elements seamlessly.

Dude! I loved it. I really liked how you shot it. It was very clean and flowed nicely. I also just found out tonight that I know one of your makeup artists. What the hell, eh?
 
I liked it overall. Nicely shot and executed with a bit shoddy acting.

It wasn't really surprising where this one was going based on the title and set up, but so what? Pretty good effects. Always like to see blood and guts. :)

Nice job, nice job. I am a HUGE fan of dark comedy so I appreciated this even more, I loved the blood made sign. The gore was great in this and the zombies looked great too. I agree with TC about the part where they open the gate, I would expect to see zombies crawling everywhere. Otherwise good stuff, would of been great to see a long cut. Nice job though!
 
Pretty good story, and FX (Ton's O' Blood). I felt the acting could have used improvement, and I didn't understand how she became a zombie at the end as she was only shot, not bitten.

Otherwise, entertaining & ranked above average in the fest.
 
You did a good job of keeping me interested/entertained throughout in this one. Alot of the films seemed as if they dragged a bit, this one ran right through and the 5 mins was up before I knew it. So obviously you had good pacing/and a good story. I think the special fx in this one REALLY needed some work. From muzzle flashes to head hits to smoke, I think it all needed some work. The makeup on the zombie who got shot in the head looked really good! I also liked how the makeup on the lead actor changed over time to show he's becoming more "undead" as time passes. It might have been more effective if you would have put makeup on his arms as well as his face as you can see that only his face has makeup on it. There was a good amount of gore, but alot of times the blood looked too purplish. Try using less blue food coloring next time (I had that same problem.) I really liked the ending scene of the two walking off into the sunset. That shot looks really good to me. Good job. Tim.
