throwing timeline takes offline

i had this problem earlier this week, and again today:
whenever i try to log and capture new material, several takes in the timeline turn white, and i get the message, files missing.

the first time, i brought my external drive to school, and we recaptured takes via the pan 110, rather than a deck; i have a dsr-11. the camera said the takes were shot LP, even though i know i shot them SP.

we converted them to SP, but the same thing happened again.

any idea what is happening

Re: throwing timeline takes offline

Are you setting a logging bin, or setting the batch capture to capture all items in bin, having your project bin being the logging bin. If you don't set a separate capture bin you are recapturing what you already have. I could be totally off in left field on this but...

thanks sumosamuri

what you mentioned is sort of what happened.

with lots of help, i later learned that changing the reel number from a new tape that i wanted to log and capture was the real solution. there was a little more to it than that, but what was happening was, the new tape with the same reel number was overriding a clip tha i had already put in the timeline.

but again, all my thanks
