Through Glass look?

I was wondering how one would go about achieving the looks that are in this video: https://vimeo.com/40870403
Specifically the shots at 0:07, 0:18, 0:30, 1:39

It looks like some distorted reflection? Perhaps some sort of split diopter or shot through a glass pane effect? Any ideas?

I'm probably wrong, but for some reason this video that I saw quite some time ago, was either in relation to the technique of "lens wacking" or as someone asked somewhere (maybe on dvxuser) it was noted that is could very likely be the use of a glass plate in front of the lens with vaseline applied to it to make the images through it blurry - I will assume applying the vaseline will be very directional (looking at some of the reflections) and in other cases the glass is angled to give reflections - well that is what I would've tried if it was indeed a glass plate.

To note, the glass plate memory feels more true for this video than the lens whacking memory.
