Hi
After years lugging my miller arrow about I wonder if it is time to get a 'joke' tripod.

Im thinking 75mm miller sticks, and this head..

The idea woud be to carry..

Canon R6 70-200 F4, mic

On news/doc jobs where a perfect pan would not be expected

Any experience of this head. I like the straight to arca version which will cut out a few plates and keep the CofM of the camera low.

Other cheap light heads?

Geez. I'm a sucker for grey-and-copper/orange colourways (as the kids say).

But us that Airhed head a flat plate? And I poked around the page but didn't see how much weight it can support. Ah. Here it is. They say 14kg/30lbs:

I'm also looking for a small(ish) head. My old Vinten is good, but big and heavy. I'm willing to go less cheap than Morgan (I'm looking at Sachtler activ and Miller CX, etc), but would love to hear what people think.

I have recently bought this: Manfrotto 608 Nitrotech Fluid Video Head, as I too am a bit done with both my Sachtler heads, one a West German made Video 14 rate at 30+ pounds and old but mint. And another old but still reliable DV4 head. I stopped using the leg sets that came with each. I now use a carbon fibre Gitzo GT3543XLS Systematic Series 3 legs and bought the Manfrotto head with a 75mm half ball. I chose this head because of the variable counterbalance since I use several different cameras.
All of this to say, I hope I made the right choice, the head has been back ordered since the end of February in Montréal. I have to say that I look forward to reading about your experience with this head. Best of luck.
