Thread about "Laggy Iris Dial"... deleted???

I just checked back to see if there had been any more responses, and the thread is gone - not moved, but gone - I even searched my user profile to find the posts in that thread, and they are all gone...?

There was actually a gentleman who responded with a possible reason, and that it is not unusual - something about dirt in the dial (sorry, I don't remember his avatar name). Hopefully, you saw it.

I think there were several posts in that thread in reference to you guys having the iris set to "Auto Expose" or something to that effect.

it is possible to delete individual posts instead of an entire thread.
that info may have been helpful to some one else.

Maybe Jared needs some aditional help with moderating, to reduce the workload.
are there other volunteer moderators on this forum?

I'm pretty sure Jarred has it under control, and yes there are plenty of moderators on this forum.

If he saw fit to delete the entire thread as opposed to a few entries, then so be it.

Yea, I'm sure he'll look into that.

It's my fault for not "playing nice."

But since I owe you one for getting your thread deleted, I'll make it up to you by telling you what the problem is.

The potentiometer in the iris dial is dirty/noisy. I'm not sure how it works but it's like a volume wheel the clicks sometimes making a loud noice, and when it "clicks" in this case, it suddenly sends a strong signal to close the iris.

You can try cleaning it yourself, trying spinning the wheel around a lot to dislodge the dirt (only a temporary fix), or get the camera cleaned. I have the same problem and I haven't decided what to do about it yet, so if you have any luck, do share your results.
