Thoughts on this new mic for ADR work?

NO. If you want AT mic spend a little more and get AT3035. or Shure KSM27.
No USB please. No side address mic in the field or location.

I've actually used the 3035 - it's a great mic. When I stated "in the field", I meant for laying voice-over and temp tracks in your hotel or in a car when you won't have immediate access to a studio VO facility.

Often times, we all fly separately into a market to shoot a package with our talent. During these packages, it would be nice to have a highly portable ADR-voiceover solution for use in our hotel rooms and so on. These clips would be used in wrap-arounds and narration tracks.

I don't know about the USB version, but the 2020 is a pretty decent mic that should suit your needs well. But, I'd say, try the USB version first... I've not used it, and it may be great, just make sure you have all the control you need, and that the preamp quality lives up to the mic!

I've used a 4040 for a while, and it sounds pretty good (though mostly now using my 641 instead). The price seems right so give it a try...if it doesn't work well, put it up on ebay or list it in the marketplace here and sell it to some schlemeel that doesn't know any better (like those that buy the ME66. :-)

That "on set" ADR is becoming popular. Just re-record the dialog without picture with production mic. It'll match better.
