Thoughts on Sony ECM-44b

I just used a ECM-44b for a quick shoot for a guy I know. But I didn't get a chance to really run it through the ringer, is this a decent mic? It didn't seem to sound too bad.

Also are there any major concerns with wireless VS wired lavalier mics, besides mobility?

Re: Thoughts on Sony ECM-44b

The sony is a decent lav.

You will always want to go wired instead of wireless unless you use a Zaxcom digital. Wireless introduces dropouts, noise, and distortions. Obviously sometimes wireless is needed but try avoid it.

I never had thought about a wired lav until I saw this thing.
It seems to work fine.

Anybody know of any major drawbacks for this mic?

Yeah. It sounds good, but it's friggin huge. Impossible to hide. It's nice and rugged, so if you don't need to hide it, then it's a good mic to have.

cool. its for interviews and stuff like that. Not story based shooting so I'm foregoing the "hide the mic" mentality.

Just need something to get me started first. The mic is on its way.
