Hey guys.

So during the past week, I have come into owning 32 original magnetic mylar audio reels used in the production of the hit tv show Mission: Impossible. The reels range from episode 135-167. All have the identifying papers with them and all are in pretty good condition for 40 or so years of storage :D

I got these for free from a friend. Her neighbor passed away and all of his stuff was out on the curb with a sign that said "Free." Apparently he was the Production mixer for the show from seasons 4-7.

I don't really know what to do with these reels, sell them, hold on to them, etc. But they're just really cool to look at!

Enjoy :)

I'm not sure you could legally sell these. They might be the property of Paramount TV. I'd let them have them as they might find them useful for remastering purposes.

Fohdeesha- where do you think I could find one? :D

Batutta- that's what I thought. Thing is, the copyright is still owned by CBS Studios and contacting them got me no where :(

You might want to try Paramount TV, see if you have better luck, as they actually produced the show with Desilu. I actually just read a story where some guy tried to sell a print of an expanded version of Blues Brothers on ebay and the FBI contacted him and took it back for the studio. I guess somebody had stolen it from a preview screening 30 years ago.

Ah thank you! I definetly will get in contact with them. Im pretty sure they weren't stollen but you never know! :D

These days, CBS = Paramount TV. There was a corporate shakeup a few years back, and Paramount became a movie-only entity, and all the classic Paramount TV shows became the property of CBS. I only know this because of "Star Trek..." :D

(BTW, cool find. :) )

You should post these over at www.jwsound.net/SMF

Those guys might be able to give you some history behind them or help you get in touch with who you need to.

Thank you sir. I've signed up to their forums just for this.

Ah thanks! That really helps (and thank god I'm not the only Star Trek fan here :D )

And it really is :)
