The Festival getting some media love.......we are in 20 papers and we will be in Variety here in the States, and potentially others. Malaysian TV has donated 100 hours airtime to spreading the word, as well as a live feed from opening night.

Just a sample of the flora there, I swear the whole state of Sarawak is like this........beautiful!

Sorry about the "fogged lens" The humidity there is high......just jumped out of a air conditioned car....forgot about the fogging issue.
This is Sarawak Cultural Village, a "living museum" Opening night will be held here, and it will be a night no one will ever forget.

I have hundreds more picture's, so keep an eye on this thread for more pics.

Here's the deal, this in an international feature film festival being sponsored by the Malaysian government. Here is the KICKER: No submission fees!!!!!! And if your film is selected.....room and board at one of the exquisite hotels in Sarawak will be covered for you for the entire festival (3 days). I would ask that you bring your "A" game, though, because the competition and judging will be intense.

So if you are interested in submitting your feature film (if outside the ASEAN region, you are only eligible for "Best Foreign Film"), PM me and I will send you to the website and the rules.

Didn't have time on this trip because of all the media interviews and pre-pro for the festival (visiting the venues taking pics for planning, etc..) In March I will, I am there all month, so that's when I will try to play "tourist" for a couple days if I am not too busy. But for the most part, I will be in and around Kuching, Sarawak and that's where my office will be, though I will have a desk in KL if I need it.

Thought I would try my hand at creating an artistic photo.

Taking in the Sunday Market. Sadly, the day I was there was the final day of it. Had many press people asking what paper I was from....LOL

Thank you Kirk........LOL, keep in mind any film-makers from your country are ELIGIBLE for all the awards (except Best Foreign Film)......since Thailand is an ASEAN nation. No submission fee.

My country? Have I been in Thailand so long that it's become my country. Nice! :D What if an American makes a movie in Thailand, is that a foreign film too?

No. It has to be filmed primarily in an ASEAN country/s (you are asked to provide the location list). No restrictions on who was the film-maker.

So expats are eligible if they live in one of the ASEAN countries......as long as principle was completed in 2012/3

EDIT: Only participants of ASEAN citizenship or Permanent Resident status may qualify for individual awards. So....kind of oops. They changed my rules a bit. But that is for individual awards. Best Film/s are still good for expats.
