This RED Scarlet will NEVER HAPPEN. If what this guy is announcing were to happen, it would undermine all RED ONE and EPIC sales. As for the Targetted price of under 3000... don't make me laugh. If they released this, they could never again justify a 25000+ price for the Epic. That is why I believe the Epic will come first and the Sarlett as announced here will NEVER HAPPEN.

Scarlet will most likely -- if not certainly -- be Red's cash cow. Epic features are enough
to justify the additional cost for those that need them and can afford them.

I see your point, but it will CERTAINLY happen.

Let me guess. At the next video convention this guy will be there telling us about how excited he is that Scarlett may in fact be available by early next year... which means more BD for another 6 months. Hell, let's make it 4K. Did he mention the Scarlett can also fly?

Why is it trollish to suggest to people not to wait for the Scarlett? I'm really getting sick and tired of those who constantly complain about posts which don't concern them. If I want to discuss the scarlet as part of the general topic regarding the future and alternative to 35mm adaptors in my own style, why should I be censored by certain intolerant forum users who have neither a sense of humor nor any sort of opinion on the topic? As I said before, get a sense of humor and a life and stop trying to get people banned just to fill your spare time. Right now the only trollish threads I see are those by people who have nothing to say. Stop trolling around. Thank you.

Zacatac when is Nab? I also suggest that from now on we start calling the Scarlet the Holy Grail. You may have a better chance of successfully purchasing the latter. Seriously, ask for delivery dates. I wonder what excuses "Ted from Red" will come up with this time.

I bought my EX1 a year ago from somebody who sold his because he wanted to wait for the Scarlett. I think he sold his EX1 way too soon :) This said if any EX3 owner has any hope of seeing a Scarlett anytime this year delivered to him I will buy his EX3 at a discount price right now along with the Relay and the spinning adaptor.

I can't understand why you are so against RED and Scarlet, so what if they announced prematurely a camera that would be awesome to have... Do they owe you something for the delays?

All we know is that it will come out, and I'm 99% sure when it does half the film population will look dumbfounded as Vaporware has become mainstream... however long it takes
 
I have nothing against the Red. I think it is a great camera. That is the very reason I don't buy the Scarlett hype. Scarlett is presented just as a Red without interchageable lenses at 15% of the cost. Give me a break. The price of 3000 for a camera which should outperform in theory cameras costing tens of thousands just seems ludicrous. I remember when Boeing announced they would make a supersonic plane at the cost and fuel consumption of a regular plane. The Airbus people said the plane could be made if Boeing found a way to bend the laws of physics. I think the Scarlett 3K at half the price of an EX1 sounds just about as crazy as the Boeing announcement.

Beyond that I don't think the Scarlett announcement should have been made that early when it appears these guys don't even have a final design 2 years later. These speculative annoucements are just hype.

On top of it, I don't see how a company could shoot itself in the foot by undercutting its own product line when it's just about to release a high end version of the Red (Epic). The whole "Ted from Red" thing really sounds like a circus to grab attention. Annoucements are probably the cheapest way to get attention.

So far the only thing comming out of Red has been the Red.

If you're going on speculation with cameras, we've been waiting, oh 5 years for the Canon Full Frame RAW Video camera, with interchangeable lenses... that they keep hinting at...
 
Canon does not have a "Chris from Canon" running around telling us Canon will release a revolutionary camera by the end of the year just to come back a year later to announce delays more hype. The Red people have a tendency to over-announce everything, even while their engineers have not yet completed anything. I would not hold my breath for the Scarlett.
 
Y'know what? You've very clearly elucidated your position on the Red. Which means you don't ever have to say it again. We get it, we got it. Now drop it, please.
