That is a SAD image I love kids and someone somewhere needs to Help! It is amazing we have seat belt laws. And helmet laws. All sorts of chocking hasard laws. So many laws to protect a child physically. But no food laws about all the crap food out there that is shoved down the kids throat. I mean that both ways. It is just sad! :'(

Could be. But Down's Syndrome sufferers have glandular and metabolic anomalies which produce obesity, or at least cause them to be overweight.

Yeah, it's hard to tell from a few herky jerky frames just what is going on with the kid.
I think the initial humorous reactions were based on the wacky, spastic fast motion of the clip/animation.
You know how it is when you're editing and someone who is new to the experience instinctively laughs when they see you fast forward through a clip and people are moving quick and erraticaly.
I don't think the initial remarks or reactions were meant to be mean-spirited. At least, mine weren't.
