This website look professional enough?

Hey, PK's right! I hadn't even noticed that all your text is in images. I would move that up to #2 in my list of things to change. It's critically important.

Seriously, though, it is refreshing to see someone taking critiques this well! That's awesome. People who can't take critiques take a long time to improve.

Thanks, Doug, I'm all about the improvements. Yeah, people chap me when they ask for critiques and all they're really looking for is praise.

Oh .. Norm ... that one part ... you know with the thing ... well that part REALLY sucks. But I like that one other part, you really got what you were going for there.

LOL! Talk about vague! :D

Website looks good. Flash animation would be a great addition to your website. PM me if you would like me to put something together for you.

Norm, in refrence to the CSS version of a site...I just started re-designing my site using web compliant CSS2. So if you have questions about that, let me know.

Same here, I just redid mine in CSS. No going back to tables for me!

Dreamweaver can do CSS, can't it? I've got it, just only know how to do HTML with it. gOldenbOy ... I'll PM you later today. I've got a FLASH strip on my www.eefilm.com index site, though it's simple and not what I'd want for this one.

Any text editor can do CSS, Dreamweaver included.

I recommend if you're just starting out to check out Zeldman's book "Designing for Web Standards"

Okay, I'm a stinkin' moron. Larry_R turned me on to templatebox.com and they've got VERY impressive FREE websites: http://www.templatesbox.com/templates.htm

At least from my limited design experience, they're not only impressive but better than the junk I paid for (yeah, that erks me).

So how 'bout a poll ... of the templates listed at the above link, anything stand out to someone that would really grab your eye if SLIGHTLY altered for DVD duplication service(s)?

Oh, and Kai, very nice site. By moving the browser around (expand/contract), I can see the CSS (Cascade Style Sheets) happening, as they have layers that overlap & can move to a degree over each other ... is that the main principle with CSS? What's the other benefit(s) with it?

LOL!!! I don't know if you were being sarcastic or not, but that's actually the first one I downloaded just now ... I can see a big ol' stack of DVD's or duplicating towers fiting nicely where the man & his fish currently is. The color scheme is pleasant, and lay out looks nice & professional. Also has css support, which my current Purple People Eater does not.

YES! I thought the same thing! A big ol' stack of DVD's in the front. I am not being sarcastic at all. HAHA! Great minds think alike ;)

If I were you, I would change the text type to selectable.
anyway the site is cool, I like it, because a special feeling is given by the colours.

No Brian, I've lied about everything. :2vrolijk_08: j/k Actually, everything listed there is legit...
I never thought you fibbbing, Envision. I'm actually impressed you made the investment. They are great machines; we had one where I used to work. We found that Verbatim discs had the least number of problems while Mitsui seemed to be the worst. There's something special about the white coating on Verbatim discs that holds the ink better from the Rimage and gives more consistent results, in my experience. Good luck with your new business venture. It sounds exciting. :)

I just spent all day downloading website creation stuff from SourceForge...PHP, MySQL, WYSIWYG editing, yadda yadda yadda.

Not a one of them work unless you already know what the $%@#! you're doing. Made that $1900 Adobe web bundle look less un-attractive.

Then I saw what was in it...I already have DreamWeaver and the rest. Still can't make a website. Grrrrr...

I havent read through this thread but:

This webpage does nothing for me. I have no idea what this company even does and even after a second glance I'm looking around for detailed information

I see a ballerina dancer chicky and some metal thingy and this means nada too me.

Play It Again Productions sounds more like a video company or even moreso like a DJ service for weddings.

The upper left logo should always be a hyperlink back to main page (Not small print at bottom; this prevents ghosting)

My .02 Norm !

John, you've echoed what others say, but I still appreciate the chime in. I've spent the last couple of nights vesting my time with the family vs. afterhours editing & fixes on this site & others, so I don't want anyone to think I'm not going to attack these issues ... hopefully by this weekend the changes will be up.

Also, gOldenbOy's done a great job with a FLASH banner, that'll help to dress it up, and I'm TRYING to get a grasp on the HTML/CSS thing. Like GenJerDan said, it's tough with this DIY stuff as you try to figure it out as you go.

Thisiswells, we use Taio Yuden disks. Out of over 2,000 discs burned, we've never had a single "coaster". Yes, it's a crap shoot sometimes as to what discs can handle the heat that the Rimage Everest puts out during the thermal retransfer print ... that's another reason why we've gone with the more expensive Taio's, though I'm looking to see if we can get an equally good disc for less to increase margins & allow more room for movement when competing against other bids/prices.

Another thing that helps us to have a low-zero disc failure during burning is that I run the Titan pro usually at 1/2 the max speed of the disc ... so 8x discs will burn at a nice & slow 4x speed, etc. Even at 4x, it'll handle a batch of 500 discs in around 24 hours.

Waltind just had us burn 300 of his own discs he provided, and there were only 5 failures out of the batch ... four of which were with visible dye issues on the under side of the disc (manufacturer defect).

This is my theory exactly. I find that my coaster rate decreases dramatically when I limit my burn speeds to 50% or less of max. This also seems to help increase compatibility in more players for the end-user as well.

Check that. Completely agree, Owen. I can understand why someone may want to crank up the speed if they have to sit there & handle each one in just one or two burners, but for these expensive automated large batch machines, there's no reason to go with the high speeds as the risk of failure is higher, like you stated.

2nd round of critiques welcomed!

Okay, I REALLY want to thank everyone for their input, and have tried to address most, if not all of the comments & feedback that was given.

Please take a look at the site now, and let me know what other improvements need to be made.

It's been a mixed bag between those who think the site layout (template) looked cool & professional, and those who thought it just reaked of low end templates ... but, for the sake of not recreating the wheel, or going with just another template, I've stuck with the current design.

Unless someone wants to doctor another template (my next favorite was the man/fish one I posted a link to on the previous couple pages), and or wants to make me CSS friendly (I gave up trying how to figure that out) ... then I'm stuck with this.

Last thing I'll probably add is a order link via PayPal, but otherwise I'd really like to talk to each person directly & hand hold every project through, to ensure no miscommunications, errors, etc ... that's why there's not the more automated section that some sites may have.

Look forward to any further thoughts on the fix(es)!
