This quote motivates me. Maybe it'll help you too.

Wish I were banned.
"It seems to me that people have vast potential. Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks. Yet most people don't. They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever." -Philip Adams

I find it pretty easy to just sit around on DVXuser and keep telling myself that I'm going to go make a great film eventually. I keep putting off the actual work and become complacent.

I ask all of you who have this same problem to change your mindset and begin to really put everything toward film (if that's what you really love). Those of you who keep putting off the responsibilities that come with shooting your first big feature, do what you can to put those responsibilities aside, and just go for it. In every single decision in life, it will always feel like there's a better time to act. If you don't fight the natural urge to be comfortable, your time will pass before you ever take the first big step. Stop dreaming and make it happen.

Note: The tone I'm using makes me sound kind of arrogant (or at least I'm interpreting it as that), but in no way am I trying to come across that way. I'm actually a great example of somebody who sits around on DVXuser and only dreams of making great films. I just recently started being able to re-motivate myself, and I figured if this post helps out one other person, it's worth it.
Also, I realize many of you have families and other responsibilities that make financial and creative risk-taking difficult, and I understand. I don't have those problems yet, so if you're saying to yourself, "Easier said than done," you are probably correct.

we got tired of our dead end job in Texas and decided to just quit, pack up our bags and head out to California, we decided to move toward NorCal, up to San Jose. I knew a few people from an internet online site, but I didn't have any friends that were close.

I got picked up at the airport by one of the online people who took me to their headquarters that day. My family hadn't even booked a hotel, we had no idea where to go. While I was at headquarters, one of the supervisors heard I needed a place, he's an actor/teacher and he lent me his apartment, said he was going to Russia for 3 weeks on a teaching seminar, I could use his place.

So he gave me keys that day and the online people drove us and our luggage over to that apartment in Los Gatos. We stayed in that apartment RENT-FREE for 3 weeks.

We found a job in Santa Cruz within a week-and-a-half and stayed at that job near 7 years before we decided to take another risk and come down to Santa Monica to live.

You can stay where you are or pack up your bags and live on a little faith that everything is gonna work out, but one thing I know, while Santa Cruz was not the best place to live, I had a wonderful time there, met some really cool people.

The world is waiting, get up, get out and see it!

I like Buck Henry's observation - You can't make excuses. Writers write. Otherwise you're just a poser.

Someone once told me that a composer is not someone who writes music. It is someone who can't NOT write music.

Big difference.

You can apply that to anything.

Another great quote from the great lyricist, Neil Peart:

"All of us get lost in the darkness, dreamers learn to steer by the stars"

That's what motivates me

More Peart:
"Some will sell their dreams for small desires
Or lose the race to rats
Get caught in ticking traps
And start to dream of somewhere to relax their restless flight"

Very good quote Drew.
It is easy to sit around and surf the net and waste time. I went to the Roger Ebertfilm fest. Directors and actors where on hand and talk about their movies. Some like the Frozen River director. First time director. It got me off my butt and I finished my Quest fest script.

Iv got one..If you want to make money then work,if you want to make alot of money then make other people work for you but if its wealth you want then you've got to make your money work for you too

"My job is a decision-making job, and as a result, I make a lot of decisions." --George W. Bush

I think any one who has ever had to Direct and/or Produce can relate with that profound little nugget...
