Here's a clip of the in-cam mic, Oktava cardioid, Oktava hyper-cardioid, and finally an mkh416... all boomed 12" overhead. DON'T TURN YOUR VOLUME UP TOO HIGH WHEN YOU HEAR THE QUIET INTERNAL MICS OF THE DVX... LATER MICS GET LOUDER AT EQUAL SETTINGS.
The in-cam level is -50db and the dials are at 12 o'clock for all clips. The 416 could have been dialed back or raised a few inches... but this gives you a real grasp of the differences in the mics.
I like the 416 the best, but there's no denying the bargain pricing of the Oktava.

Barry S. If you still hear any buzzing on these clips, including the Oktava, then it's something from the internet. I played 'em over and over just to be sure and I can't hear any "buzziness" even in the Oktavas. So if you hear it PLEASE let me know.
It's funny. As I've been reading all the various forums and RAMPS about the mkh60 and 416. They make it sound like the 416 is noticeably noisier then the mkh60... I know the 60 is an INCREDIBLE mic... but I wouldn't call the 416 "noisy".
