This is driving me crazy, Vegas 11 slow motion problem. Help much appreciated..

I shot some 50fps footage in 720P with my Panasonic AG-HVX202. Importing it into the latest version of Vegas 11, even though it shows up as 50fps, I can't get it to play in slow mo. Decreasing the velocity or using other methods just makes it drop the second frame.

Any ideas? I've literally spent hours on this..

So you've set the playback rate on the clip to playback at 24fps and expanded the clip across the timeline?

Thanks for the reply. I do that, but it when I play it frame by frame on the timeline (or in the rendered mpg2) it is skipping every second frame. It is essentially treating the footage as 25fps even though it shows up as 50fps in the Vegas clip properties.

I should mention, I set the playback rate on the clip to 0.5 (25fps rather than 24fps), being that the original footage is 50fps (I'm shooting Australian PAL). I've tried so many options, it almost feels like a bug. Getting 50fps clips to play in slow motion really shouldn't be this hard.

Yeah, it sounds like you're doing it right. Just make sure it's not the undersample rate. Also make sure that your project settings are at 25fps (although I'm sure you have that right). The last thing I can think of is that maybe your PC is battling to play it back. Try rendering it out and see if it still skips the frames.

The render also skips every second frame, as I stated above. It's not a performance issue, my pc is pretty fast.

Do Sony ever bother to read these forums? I wish there was a solution to this..

I'm not trying to rerender Titanic into 3D. I'm trying to get my 50fps video to play in true slow motion in Sony Vegas 11.

Btw, this is my original clip. Please help me with this technical dilemma, I don't want to settle for cowbell, but I will.

Thanks for all the help. I've tried all those options to no avail (I've literally spent hours using different settings).

I'm going to play around a bit more, it's probably something stupid I'm doing..

If you have the previous version, 10, of Vegas you could try and test it in there. If it's a bug then it'll more than likely work in there, then you'd be able to confirm it.

How about posting screen shots of every setting you tried.
