Thirds and Golden Guides?

Is there a way to make the guides custom?

I would love to be able to click on thirds and 1.6 guides but I don't think there is a way, and couldn't find any threads even mentioning this.

I would rather not have to create an overlaying image, I imagine that would really eat up processing power.

Options>Preferences>Video -- Video Preview Display. There, you can change the parameters of the grid and the action safe lines.

AWSOME, thank you David! You are always working hard here at DVSuser!

Would you know how to get these to work when using different aspect ratios? I am working on a 16:9 timeline but using an 1920 x 800 image.

I think I found the best compromise. If I set the vertical to 3 that works perfect but setting the horizontal to 8 gets the best results though you have to ignore a few lines.

Please let me know if you have a better solution.

Draw your guides in Illustrator or Corel, and import them to the upper-most track. Stretch to the length of your project, turn on alpha, and don't forget to mute the track when you're rendering!

I can't add anything helpful here
BUT i love that Buick Riviera:Drogar-Love(DBG):

I am trying to create guides in Photoshop but can't figure out how to save them so they can be imported right. I tried as a PSD but it asks for layers although I have the layers box clicked on, then tried as a tiff but I get the white background although I deleted that layer.

Worked like a charm

Now I gotta make the smaller thirds for taking the overscan into account and then I am going to have to try to make a golden number guide... that should be a little more tricky... but I guess once I made it I can flip it horizontally and vertically to make it work four ways.
