Thinking of swapping my Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 for another wide angle lens...

Why do you like the Tamron 28-75, btw? It doesn't look that great from what i've seen.
An anecdote. One day I was shooting a model in a small studio. The Tamron works nicely in such a space, but when the model caught sight of a white L lens in my bag, she insisted I use that. Granted it's prettier and more "pro" than the little Tamron, but 70-200 is also just plainly the wrong lens for the space we were in. I brushed her off.

Her posing became somewhat listless from that point, so I said screw it, popped on the L lens and threw myself back into the far corner of the room. And guess what? The best pictures of the set, hands down, were with the ones with the L lens. Not because it was a better lens (or even an appropriate lens), but because suddenly the talent was enthusiastic and making the magic happen.

No disrespect of course, but it's worth considering how much your filmmaking is stifled by this sort of gear fixation. If you're on a budget and can shake the religion of "gotta have Nikon glass," it will open your eyes to a lot of great options. Also, as manufacturing has advanced to a point where even cheaper lenses are very good optically, the criteria for lens selection should be more about the non-optical factors: versatility, ergonomics, value.

As David pointed out, there's nothing I could show you that would definitively sell you the lens. Too many other factors involved in making any image. But for me the thing has been a versatile workhorse, and worth its weight in Nikon glass.

An anecdote.

To play devil's advocate, there are two sides to that coin. As a photographer I often feel empowered and excited by using gear that i'm excited about, even if it's all in my head. I'm pragmatic about my lens choices to a high degree but at some point I am even guilty of choosing a lens because it's pretty and I enjoy using it more.

If you're looking for ultra wide angle lenses that you can buy with the price of a second-hand Tokina 11-16, your choices are very limited. Basically, there's the Samyang 14mm, which on FF has nasty mustache distortion that is even worse than what you have right now... and that's about it. The sigma 20mm Art is nice but already twice the price and not as wide. And zooms start at around $1K (in particular the Tamron 15-30 is not far from the price of the Batis 18mm).

I'd keep the Tokina.

A new Samyang 14mm f/2.8 was announced today. It's specifically designed for FE cameras, and if it's anywhere close to the performance of the 12mm f/2.0 for APS-C, it's an option to have in mind.
