Thinking about saying goodbye to wedding filming...

I must say there are times I think about getting out of the weddings biz. However if you want to get into documentary work wedding shooting is great for learning your craft. Since I got my T2i, a little over 2 years ago, I have logged 100's of hours shooting with it. I shoot solo with primes in a one chance to get it, run-and-gun, situation. This has led to me getting calls for all sorts of projects where some of my contemporaries would melt down faster than a DSLR in Death Valley. I know my camera and my glass like the back of my hand.

I was in the same boat you are about 6 years ago. I was so sick of filming weddings for the exact same reason. I eventually learned how to earn income with my editing and design talents in other ways. Think about how you can continue to get paid for the work you are doing right now for years to come? The trick is selling your work over and over again. Two words: Stock Marketplaces. I'm now earning enough to step away from client work and create stock full time. I work how I want, whenever I want. I would suggest Pond5, iStockphoto, & Shutterstock to start trying to sell some footage and seeing what happens. The best feeling is waking up in the morning and checking your stats to see you earned money while you were sleeping :)
