Things this website makes you regret.

A few hours ago, I didn't know this product existed. Now I must have one! It's only $15 at B&H.

But since I'm departing tomorrow, I fabricated a substitute using a lumbar support pillow. But I'll switch to the POD once it arrives...

I MUST be stupid, as I still don't get the point of it. It doesn't really do anything as far as I can see. Is the POD sticky at the bottom? No..I just checked. How does it work as a tripod substitute in situations where you can't use a tripod? How stable could it possibly be? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure it out.

Hunter,

It really simple bro. ITS A BEANBAG THAT ATTACHED TO THE BOTTOM OF YOUR CAMERA!. Put the camera down on anything (a stump, a bench, a curb, a carhood, a table, etc.)and it's stable. Hell, I've put it in the middle of a road and driven over it (I made sure there was clearance first). But really dude, wrap your brain around this; ITS TOTALLY STABLE, you just can't use it for pans, hwoever tilts come out pretty good with a few tries.

Sean, your pillow looks like an alright solution, however it's going to make operating the camera a *****.

Yeah, it's a temporary solution. I've ordered a POD from B&H, but won't have it for a few days. I figure I'll reverse the DVX LCD, and make the best of it.

Honestly,
you are probably better off not strapping the pillow to the camera, and just putting the pillow down and placing the camera on top of it.

The strap is actually attached to the pillow (it's a lumbar support for a car seat--see, told ya I was a car nut).

I don't know how much, if at all, I'll use this thing. It's just a "poor man's POD," but I'll bring it just in case. :)

Ah, okay thanks for the help Lion. I finally understand. I guess I just needed a few scenarios in which the POD could be used. It does sound like it could be useful. I'll be ordering my Spiderbrace and one of these PODs in about 10 minutes. Thanks again for the help.
