Thief's......

So I park my motorcycle next to my front door last night, just like I do all summer long. I get up this morning only to find someone has stolen my spare helmet and carry bag that I had strapped on tight to the sissy bar with several bungee cords. They obviously were in no hurry.
I live at the end of a dead-end gravel road, middle class suburbia. Luckily I only lost 150 bucks worth of gear but still......

People who steal piss me off. :violin:

I feel better now.

very true, and it's in the backyard tonight.....

It's kind of creepy to think someone was messin' with my stuff while I was right on the other side of the door. Kind of like someone having their hands all over your girlfriend when you're out of town.... excpet worse cause this was my motorcycle.:-Dum(DBG):

List of crimes against me:

Bike stolen (only 2 months old and had Kyptonite lock...useless)-$1200+ $30 for lock

Bike wheel stolen ~$100

Car stereo stolen, dashboard trashed-could not afford to fix, lived with it

Side panel smashed in hit and run-ditto to above

Food and camping cookware stolen from bear locker in Yosomite park-probably a hundred bucks or so...a really silly crime regardless.

Car slimjimmed and cell phone and $20 of liquor stolen-hated that phone anyways (this one was while we were in Vancouver for a weekend, apparently US plate cars are targeted because the crime is so petty no one comes back to prosecute)

Car trunk jimmed open and $6000+ (yes $6000) of sound equipment and SLR camera and lens stolen along with several roles of unreplaceable photos stolen.

Learning to live with an "asshole tax"-priceless

You got your health, everything else is replaceable (although I have been looking into getting one of those Mad Max explosive car booby traps for future criminals)

BTW-Lost wallet twice, returned intact both times....go figure.

Cheers

"A fella. A quick fella....might have a weapon under there. I'd have to pin his head to the panel."

Minus the biggie (the $6K one) my list is very close to your's wabbit.

I've also had a back window broken out by a union thug... okay well I can't prove that one... all I know is when my brother and I opened that restaurant we had a business agent come by and ask why my brother and I were carrying in sheets of drywall and carrying out broken up concrete ourselves... I was exhausted and thoughtless as I said we have all union work for everything else, but me and my brother have been doing the sh*t work ourselves. That night (at MY HOUSE) somebody threw a rock the size of a coconut through my back truck window... nothing stolen from the inside (this time).

I also had an expensive bike stolen... a previous car stereo stolen (dash trashed)... hit and run damage... AND once I cashed a paycheck and lost that wallet full of that cash on a golf course and had it returned (with all the cash inside) by a hair stylist. She didn't know who I was when I went to get my hair cut by her and I gave her an $80 tip.

That sucks and everything, but I have to say it doesn't seem too smart to leave your stuff out in plain view in the front yard like that. Dead end or not, you can never be too careful.

Eastside-

I totally hear what you are saying. It helps to make it harder or even impossible for thieves to take your $hit but c'mon...when someone invades your space no matter if you left your wallet on your seat with your window down with a spotline on it, its the scumbag thief that is 100% responsible for stealing. I don't think the blame should EVER be put on the victim. So, 'smart' has nothing to do with it. There is just a lot of scum in the world.

Not saying it's his fault per se. Obviously it's extremely unfortunate and I do feel badly, but all I'm saying is that there are simple measures that can be taken to reduce the chances of things being stolen. When people aren't careful, I think something like this is bound to happen eventually.

First of all I'm just glad they didn't damage the bike, in the end it's only a helmet and a bag- easily replaceable. Getting upset at that almost seems trivial. What bothers me the most is that they had to take their sweet time because the stuff was tied down pretty good, it's not like they just grabbed the stuff off the seat, all the while I'm right on the other side of the door. And that's the whole "invaded my space" part. Most likely it was a couple of kids out being kids on the 4th of July and they've got no use for the stuff, it was just there so they took it.
But now I have to put my bike in the backyard, which is an inconvenience and a real pain during the summer, just to avoid someone walking across my yard and up to my front door and messing with my stuff so they can entertain themselves.

Years ago I had my truck stolen outside a girlfriends apartment, that didn't bother me as much since they were a parking lot away. Someone three steps from your front door seems to piss me off far more.

In general I just hate people who steal- be it small and trival or large and important.

What you do is tonight, you get a six pack of beer, and your bat, and a comfortable chair. You sit out there in the dark, sipping, sipping, sipping.... :costumed-smiley-047

My roommate bought a $40K truck this year... and within 10 days somebody tried to steal it by prying off the door handle with something that made a big hole in the door... the crazy thing is the truck was unlocked the entire time!

I had a hot chick steal a kiss once... man I know what you mean about "invading your space"... boy that pissed me off... Damn hot chicks have no respect.

Well last night/this morning I was up until 5 am. Every little noise in the house kept me on my toes. Didn't help that some people a few blocks away have firecrackers left over and find in necessary to let everyone know it at 3 am.......

But I had bottled water not beer....... and my old wheel-house 38 not a bat.....:Drogar-Angry(DBG):
