They Call Him Bruce

Has anyone heard about this movie? The plot goes as follows: Bruce Campbell is kidnapped by a bunch of people from a small town where monsters are reeking havoc ever since a couple of kids unknowingly unleashed them. They are convinced, by his part in Evil Dead, that Campbell is their only hope. Unfortunately, Campbell does not know jack crap about chainsaws and shotguns, so his rescue doesn't go smoothly.

I don't know if you guys like Bruce Campbell, but I'm sure there's at least one around here that does, if not like, the entire population.

Do you guys think this is a good choice for him? It seems like he's finally given over to the B side. I mean, yeah, we all appreciate him for his shlocky B flick performances and whatnot, but you'd think he should do an A list movie once in a while, especially after so long. He can only get small cameos in those ones, which kinda upsets me, especially after seeing Bubba Ho-Tep. This movie is gonna be wayyyyy cheesy I think, and I kinda want Bruce to move on up. He's got the chops to do so.

(yes, I do know he said he liked acting in B Movies in his first book. Even stiill, I'd still like him to make a couple of million in A movies, then he could use that money to fund B Movies. It works out.)

I'm loving it. Since it takes place in Oregon, I'm guessing that Josh Becker might have something to do with this (though it might just be a coincidence).

i remember a movie called 'they call me bruce" with a guy named Johnny Yu he was korean/japanese but anyways i like Cambell also and i agree he should be doing some high budget comedy

I'm not terribly into FUNNY horror. Shaun of the Dead was a rare exception I truly enjoyed. But if this is anything like EVIL DEAD 3 then forget it.

I am always glad to hear that Bruce is doing something, anything really. But I wonder how much he makes off personal appearances/conventions. The guy is HUGE in that crowd. And I imagine he is among the most requested celebrity. Maybe he makes enough to be happy being the King of B.

He can pretty much shine in anything, no matter how bad. I saw him in a no budget alien movie that was completely saved by him.

In Crimewave (early Raimi), he had a memorable tiny performance as an annoying guy on a date: "Hey baby, how 'bout going back to my place for a little scotch and sofa? [laughs]" Then he meets his demise.

This new project should be worth a peek.

By the way, I remember "They Call Me Bruce." It was quite bad and a bit funny, kind of like an early Kung Pow.

If it's the one I saw on Sci-Fi, even he couldn't save it. In fact, his last couple of films have been pretty atrocious. I think they were on Sci-Fi Channel double header. "Alien Apocalypse" and "Man with the Screaming Brain". All apologies to Bruce's fans but these two were really bad.

Yeah, I gotta agree with you, Blaine. The only thing I enjoyed about Man with the Screaming Brain when I saw it was the Q&A before hand and walking down from the bathroom and brushing shoulders with Bruce while he was walking up the stairs.

This is why They Call Me Bruce freaks me out. I don't want it to be another Man with the Screaming Brain. Hopefully it'll have a bigger budget, and thankfully they don't have to film in Bulgaria. I imagine the packs of wild dogs area bit distracting.
