These type of film makers give the rest a bad name

screaming egomaniacal director
assistant walking around with a loaded gun
actors dressed as hookers
essential prop being repossessed during filming

if this isn't a recipe for success, i don't know what is.

This had to of been staged. I can't believe anyone could be that stupid and still lives. Wow. If it gets to that point just choose a new profession. It's not worth it. I thought he was going to have a heart attack right there on the set. And what was the deal with his crew. This couldn't have been the 1st time this has happened, lol. Unreal.

The entire show and everything about it is staged! I can't believe it's still on the air.. especially being on "TruTV" ...

Yeah I love how they say "not reality, ACTUALITY" and then they proceed to have the most fake show the world has ever seen. What really bugs me is that the show is trying to be convincing, in presenting "reality".

Of course I've seen "acting" in other shows that are 95% reality... and if they'd been just a little less obvious in this show I think they'd probably be able to fool 95% of the people out there... even on this forum.

It was a sad day when I convinced my dad that one of his favorite shows is totally fake... and why. The show is so staged it's nuts.

When you have the same quality of audio on the "drunk guy who just came out of the bar" as you do on your "stars" as they're hooking up his ride to drive it away... that tells you something... and it's not "wow, that's an amazing mic"... no, it's "everybody's lav'ed up".

That's to say nothing of the really obvious character and acting issues... and the fact that nobody reacts to the camera, or even looks into it. If you came out of your house and somebody was repo'ing your car... AND there was a film production crew there... would you only care about the car or would you wonder "what the f*ck is going on here? who are you, and why are you filming this?"

Yah, this looked so fake it wasn't even funny.

My faith in reality TV has been shaken. I hope Survivor has not forsaken me.

I've pointed out some REALLY fake moments in otherwise real (and popular) shows... and because of the show's popularity... even around here... people didn't accept the logic.

One of the first was Man V. Wild... People (even on this very site) were so enamored with what the guy does... and all I could say is "if this FEAT of agility, or whatever... is so amazing... WHAT OF THE CAMERA GUY??? Who's the REAL bad-ass???" When you see a guy climbing a waterfall... from a really good follow-shot... hey... the dude climbing isn't climbing AND carrying a cam plus maintaining a quality shot, etc.

The next time you're trying to be smooth while shooting a "walk and talk"... imagine shooting a "climb and talk". It was fun going back to that thread when the truth on that deal actually came out.

I guarantee you there are fake moments on all reality shows... because they're all under pressure to succeed, and have moments caught on camera that people will talk about to push the interest in the show higher. They have no contract to present you with reality 100% of the time... we all just perceive a contract, based on the fact that they PRESENT it as reality, PACKAGE it as reality, and CALL it reality (in their statements and reactions on camera).

I still watch and enjoy many of those shows by the way... Survivor is the top of my Tivo list... and has been for 6 years now... but on a FILMMAKER'S forum... I want THIS community to be smart enough to separate production from reality.

Not just this one... every single episode is riddled with terrible acting and obviously staged events. It's a copy of "Dog the Bounty Hunter" which is also pretty staged but at least on DTBH they actually try to make it "look" real.

Operation Repo is exploring the limit's of an audience's stupidity... There are probably people that think Reno 911 is another real show just like Cops.

Survivor is awesome... it's been my favorite show in TV for nearly 6 years. There's no reason to be bummed that some stuff is staged... 100% of your favorite movies were staged (not counting docs).

I don't think people expect game shows like Survivor or Amazing Race to reflect 'reality' as much since they are so obviously structured. Docu drama shows like this, though, people do expect some semblance of 'reality', so I can understand people being upset when they find out they are staged.

I used the embarrassed emoticon but it looked sad. :)

I love Survivor. I know it's not real, I've caught plenty of things that were obviously staged to some degree. Still love it though. When people get injured and you see major infections, second/third degree burns or dislocations, it helps bring back the reality aspect.

I had a chat with a buddy about the show about 7 years ago. He said that the show would never last, I said... wanna bet? He lost that bet a long time ago.
Like it or not REALITY TV shows are some of the highest rated shows on TV.

This Repo one looks really bad though. I could never watch that.

We had WWF in the 70's and 80's.. and now "reality" shows have taken their place. The same people that were duped by "professional" wrestling are now duped by these shows.

I always thought for a show to portray real life situations 1st you would have to go back to the old school notion of hiding the cameras. Like "Candid Camera" did. And for that matter "Punked". 2 huge shoulder mounted cameras in the back seat of the truck is not reality. When people see cameras they naturally perform. It's that simple.

I know some reality shows mix in a little drama during the dull moments. "Deadliest Catch" is probably a good example. I know they really played with the drama on that show but can't say it wasn't real drama, just maybe relished because the cameras were on. However there are tons of reality shows that give away their complete staged setting by all the camera angles that appear all of the sudden. You see a shot then all of the sudden the camera is behind them and you think "wait a minute if this is real time then why didn't I see a camera guy behind them in the shot prior?" I loved the look on peoples faces when I would point that out on Criss Angel. They would say things like "That dude is real man!" Then I would say the camera men are more impressive to me because they can disappear and reappear at will man. Once they get it it's like I just told them Santa Clause was their Uncle Bob.
