Theory of Everything - Quick Review

tmnt

King of Australia
Having read the abridged version of A Brief History of Time, I was keen to see this flick.

The movie didn't really carry the inspirational vibe that the trailer would have you believe. 95% of the flick follows Hawkin's time in England.

A little too bland for me. 2.5/5.

* Special note: The two dudes I saw the flick with liked it more than me.
** Special note 2: I saw Dumb & Dumber to last week, don't make that mistake.

The trailer seemed to reduce Stephen Hawking's story solely to his struggle against his disease, which I would find rather disappointing, and, frankly, uninteresting. I'm actually glad to hear it was more than that.

Actually most if it was about his struggle with the disease. That whole science thing was largely skimmed over.

Also cinematography wise, this looked very hallmarkish.

Then that is a shame, indeed. Reducing a man's life to its most tragic thing is bad enough, but worse when it's someone of such accomplishment.

Finally watched this.

Not only does it reduce his whole life to his struggle with his disease, it spend a huge amount of time on entirely uninteresting soap-opera stuff.

There's a lot to say about Stephen Hawking, both good and bad. It deserves to be said. But wasting half the movie on his wife's future husband is nearly criminal.
