Theatrical Lighting for Production Work

Hey All! First of all thanks for all the great insights and taking the time to share knowledge! I fell heir to 8 of these fixtures:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=RetrieveSku&IC=NSFT8BE&Q=&O=

which were used in a theater but only sparingly. I am going to relamp them and wire with some stage pin connectors run back to a distro box but I am wondering if they can be mounted on a c-stand or the like. I would like to have them rolling if possible for ease of positioning and would set them behind a large diffusion frame.

What is the piece (clamp or mount) that I would need to attach the c-mount on the fixture to a c-stand or other recommendations for mounting. Also, these are specifically called out as theatrical fixtures for hanging....what would the difference between these and say an Arri be....road worthiness? We will be using them in a fixed studio environment and not trucking them.....

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can relamp them with 1k globes or leave in as 2ks [but, 2ks suck power and blow house circuts] and you put stand adapters on the yokes. Those are good lights! I've adapted hanging theatre lights into pole mounted lights, but I can't remember the name of the adaptors. Search the WEB and call some good lighting places; ask them, a sharp sales person will know. In fact just call B&H. Measure the yoke width so you get an adaptor that will fit. I have no idea how big these fixtures are and this makes a difference. Big 2k fixtures are useful but limited in application and require junior $tands.

ARRIs are aluminum and fly up high with less tipping over potential. I'll bet these theatre lights are steel but will work.

So you're saying lumen for lumen, I'm just better off relamping with the 1k globes?

The yokes are 1.5" wide and the mounting hole is .5", I will give B&H a call.

The fixtures weigh about 20 lbs....what type of stand, how high, etc.... would I be safe with?

Thanks for the quick reply.

P.S. I got 8 of these, they look new except for dust and a couple of 1k scoops to boot just for hauling them away. The luminatti shined on me today.

A 1k can plug into a wall without blowing fuses, 2ks blow fuses. Also 1k is usually enough light for most interior shooting, houses.... Keep the 2k bulbs for times when you need more power. My concern is the size of the fixture. Many 2k fixtures are big, which is fine but limiting for some uses. My Mole & Desisti 2ks are big, they take junior stands and those stands cost $200-350 a piece. If these are smaller fixtures you're in luck.

What's the lens size?

EDIT: I saw the lens size is 8 ". 20lbs is heavy, but not as heavy as my 2k Moles 28lbs and Desistis, 26lbs.
You might need junior stands.

TVMP adaptors. These adapt yokes to stands. Sorry I don't have a link to one, but I'm sure B&H has them.

Your welcome...I was told years ago that it stood for Television -to -Motion picture adapters. TVMP...
Glad you found them, I keep 4-5 in my kit bag.
