Feel free to strip me of my man-card for starting this thread.

Just got back from seeing this and thought it was spot-on, with great performances from Emily Blunt, Rupert Friend and Paul Bettany, among others.

It's not nearly as stuffy as most period costume dramas, and the portrait Blunt paints of Victoria will earn her an Oscar nomination for sure.

I saw this a few weeks back as I really like period pieces. I thought it was very nicely done. I wanted to watch it for the technicals, particularly the cinematography, but actually got enveloped in the story. So I'll have to rent it.

We are filmmakers. No one should pull your man card for enjoying a well made film, no matter the subject.

Bettany was great; best thing about the show...

...overall I thought it was very well done.

My renewed man-card apparently got lost in the mail some time ago, leaving me free to go see whatever piques my interest...and also to use phrases like 'piques my interest.'
