The worst thing a client ever said to you.

I worked freelance for this one abrasive guy, whom I swear was the model for Dr. House. After I showed him a cut of my spot, he said "I went to the doctor today. He stuck his finger up my ass. What you're doing to me right now is worse."

Assuming this is a true story, this has to be the post of the year.

It is absolutely, 100 percent true. Another chestnut he said to someone else--

"I could watch that again...or I could stick pencils in my eyes. Yeah, I think I'll stick pencils in my eyes." We had view fests, so these remarks were made in a room full of people as we reviewed work from all the editors on tape. He would also on occassion, when he didn't like your work, take the tape out of the machine and throw it in the garbage. Needless to say that place had a high turnover. I would often park a block away on the way to work and have to talk myself into going into the building.

Tell me the truth, you've never f*cking done this before, have you? - This from someone whom I had told clearly and explicitly when he hired me, that I had never done that job before.

After telling me that she couldn't afford $1100 for a 'sweet sixteen' party video, a client prospect proceeded to show me the brand-new $80,000 black Mercedes that she had just taken delivery on, in her driveway. That, for me, was the mutha of all insults.

"That's not what the story is!! You are useless to me here."

In the media tent, surrounded by my peers, shortly after the Bosnian War, on a Canadian Forces base, 5 days into a 3 week shoot, when the producer decided (for a change) to look at my footage instead of sending me off while she stayed on base and shagged soldiers left & right. This was my first big gig. Man, that was crushing.
