The Warriors remake by Tony Scott?

Man, when I was a kid I used to love this film. Now I find out that Tony Scott is rumored to be directing the remake! His style has absolutely nothing to do with Walter Hill's. While Walter made an ultra realistic film approach (I'm not talking about the story, of course) with actors who look like real people, Tony and his super commercial flash in the pants visual style will probably bring on Colin Farrell with a leather jacket and some bad dirt makeup. Tony should NOT be directing this.
 
I think I just vomited while reading this. The Warriors should never be touched. Didn't they do enough by making a video game of the movie a while back?

Yes, this info has been kicked around for years on IMDB and other sites. Considering the working title was rumoured to be "The Warriors 2006", I'd say they're running behind schedule.

I am a Warriors purist, so I'm not too thrilled about a remake. But if it happens, it happens. I heard they were going to stay away from using guns. Rather it would be knives, bats and hand to hand combat, keeping with the nature of the original. AND, I also heard it would take place in LA this time around.
 
I actually thought the video game was very true to the movie. It was a hell of a lot of fun. I'm not so keen on the remake, though.
 
Another classic thrown onto the remake pile. Too bad.

The unfortunate reality is that this remake will probably make more $$$ in it's opening weekend than the original made in total.
 
i thought the warriors sucked they just run around the whole movie not doing enough "warrioring".... more like the cowards.

Really? I thought this was as good a Citizen Kane. Hehehe. Just kidding. You have to look at the warriors in a whole different specter and it's supposed to deliver. It has that small almost "B"ish movie feel that is typical of Walter Hill, Carpenter, etc.
 
The Warriors were a class of Jazz Tap away from being West Side Story. ha ha

I actually loved this movie when I saw it as a kid. I still like it. But it really walked a bizarrely fine line between camp and bad ass. weird.

I agree that it has a "B"-ish feel to it. Ironically, a lot of A-list 70's films do.
 
I read you, Horse. There's a sort of "visual/conceptual inocence" to some of the 70's stuff that you just cannot help to like.
 
A remake of The Warriors? Why? What's the sense in that? Hey Tony Scott, are you running out of ideas? I got a few I'd like to pitch to you. I even have a couple of scripts written. How about it? Please, don't waste your time with a remake, for godsakes! PM me if you want a project.

That's ridiculous. Just cuz Rembrant was a bit of a wimp? What would you do if a gang of skinheads in a school bus was chasing you? I know I'd be running for the nearest available train!

On the other hand...

You know Cleon went out swingin' at the conclave. The Warriors made the Orphans look like a bunch of pussies, plus they stole their girl. They beat the crap out of the Baseball Furies with baseball bats. Hell, Ajax even took a swing or two a cop! The gang destroyed a public restroom full of men in overalls. And, Swan put a knife in Luther's arm.

Cowards? More like American heroes. And I will not sit idly while you badmouth the United States of America!
